Pradosh Swain’s works are deeply rooted in rural life. In a reminiscent way, the artist often juxtaposes fleeting urban life against the backdrop of the rural setting. The cement spatula becomes a symbol for the dominance of development in contemporary life. Displaced birds and animals, uprooted trees, all urgently signify the need to go back to nature. Themes of migration, displacement, the rural vs. the urban are thus often at play in his works.
